IDF Chief-of-Staff Visits Chabad School in Beijing

The Students of Ganeinu International School and MAC (Menorah Academy of the Capital) Middle School welcomed Lt. General Benny Gantz, Chief-of-Staff of the IDF, and his delegation to their school in the Rohr Family Chabad Community Centre in Beijing, China.

Due the close ties that Chabad Beijing has with the Israeli Embassy, Rabbi Shimon and Dini Freundlich, Head Shluchim in Beijing, China, were approached by the Military Attaché, Lt. Coronal Dedi Simhi, to request that the school be put on the official itinerary of the Chief of Staff while he is visiting China.

The children welcomed him and his delegation with songs, and the Grade 4 Girls recited special poems in Hebrew and Chinese that they had written for the soldiers.

The older elementary and Middle School students were honored to hear a few words from the Lt. General, and had a chance to ask him some questions.

Every class prepared a beautiful framed piece of art work for the Lt. General depicting the similarities between Israel and China. The Lt. General presented a gift of Jerusalem in Silver to the school.

The visit ended with kaddish recited by the Lt. General, who was commemorating his mother’s Yartzeit, and a Misheberach for the IDF by Rabbi Shimon Freundlich.
