Melbourne Rov Inspires London Community

Members of the London Jewish Community gathered for a Siyum HaRambam Seudah, incorporating a Yud Shevat Farbrengen, organized by the Shluchim to Yeshiva Gedolah of London in conjunction with Beis Lubavitch.

The guest speaker was Rabbi Zvi Telsner, Rov of the Lubavitch community in Melbourne, who was flown from Australia for the event.

The program began with opening remarks from Rabbi Sholom Osdoba, of Heichal Menachem in Golders Green, who called upon Rabbi Levi Sudak, Shliach to Edgeware. He pointed out the connection between Siyum HaRambam and Yud Shvat and the significance of a Chossid saying L’chaim.

Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin was then invited to the stand. He discussed idea of when working in unison we endure, however when working on our own we have to reinvent the wheel.

Rabbi Menachem Junik of Beis Gavriel then concluded the Rambam and made a hadran.

After the joyous singing of niggunim, the eagerly anticipated Rabbi Telsner finally addressed the crowd. Amongst other things he delved into the similarity between the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rambam. He proceeded to share many observations and insights into the Rambam. Threaded throughout his speech he reiterated a concept which the Rebbe always stressed, that the action is the main thing.

The event was well attended by both members of Anash and the non-lubavitch community, with over 350 people in attendance, including women. The community left the evening with a will to strengthen their achdus with one another, and inspired to grow in learning. Both of nigleh, Rambam, and of chassidus, the rebbe’s sichos and ma’amorim.

Rabbi Telsner farbrenged afterwards well into the night for the temimim and anash.

The event was sponsored by Dayan Raskin in memory of his father, Reb Sholom Ber Raskin, OBM.

On Sunday night, Rabbi Telsner was invited to be the guest of honor at the Manchester Siyum HaRambam.

On Wednesday night, the bochurim of the Yeshivah Gedolah had the privilege of Rabbi Telsner farbrenging for them. He strongly urged the bochurim to use out their ‘golden years’ well and become talmidei chachomim through learning with focus and diligence.

A deep motion of gratitude goes out to Rabbi Telsner for enriching the community and inspiring them to grow in their learning of Rambam, and to the community for making the event so memorable. Also a distinguished thanks to community askan, Reb Getzel Itzinger, Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin and Shliach Rabbi Aaron Wolko for all their effort in arranging the events and making them possible.
