Holocaust Survivor Celebrates 90th Birthday

An elderly Jewish holocaust survivor celebrated his 90th birthday this morning in the main synagogue of Zhitomir in western Ukraine.

Binyomin Halevi, as he is affectionately known, survived the purge of Jews from his hometown, then joined the red army and battled the Nazis during the second world war.

The members of the Zhitomir Jewish community joined him this morning for a small Farbrengen, and with a cup of L’chaim in hand they wished him several more decades of happiness and health.
