Lubavitcher Appointed Rabbi of Central Synagogue in Israel’s Fourth Largest City
Rabbi Shneur Zalman Ashkenazi has been appointed as the spiritual leader of the central synagogue of Rishon Letzion, Israel’s fourth largest city, in a ceremony Tuesday evening.
Rabbi Ashkenazi is the son of Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, and son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Tzvi Dubrowski, Rov of the Chabad Kehilah in Rishon Letzion.
Hundreds attended the ‘crowning’ ceremony, among them Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Dovid Lau and Chief Rabbi of Rishon Letzion Rabbi Yehudah Wolpe.
