Bochur Seeks to Create Virtual Yeshiva Guide

Mendy Paul, a Lubavitcher bochur from Morristown, NJ, has launched a crowdfunding campaign called “The Yeshiva Guide for the Perplexed”. The project aims to provide valuable information to parents and bochurim looking to choose the right yeshiva for the coming year of study.

Such information includes:

Names, numbers and emails of the hanhala.
Virtual tour of the yeshiva to get a feel for the place.
Video of each Rabbi giving his class, to get a taste of his teaching style and see if it suits you.
Pictures of the dorm rooms, food and other amenities.
Link to contact the Yeshiva.
Calendar with all participating yeshivas’ schedules, customizable to include only Yeshivas you choose.

Aside for boys’ Yeshivas, plans on in the works for international educational institutions, summer camps and girls’ seminaries and high schools.

  • appropiate?

Hey there Mendy, spend your time learning- not making videos!!
    What is Lubavitch coming to??!!

    • Why

Why? What’s wrong with him trying to help people out?

There needs to be more people out there trying to help people with the Yeshiva experience. Yeshivas are changing and the bochurim going to yeshiva are changing. Someone out there helping people discover the right yeshiva is very important.

And who better to do this than a yeshiva bochur.

  • great idea!!!

This is an excellent idea and can help many Lubavitch families and students go to the right yeshiva for the individual. Good Luck!

  • Great Idea!

Who said he was doing this during seder? The Pauls are a nice family and this is a nice idea. Not every family can visit every yeshiva. Giving them information to help out is very nice. This can also come in handy for every BT parent who themselves did not go through the system and know the ins and outs of every yeshiva in the States. As someone with a regular dayjob who uses his vacation time to take off for the Yomim Tovim I do not have extra days to go signtseeing.

  • this looks awesome

I hope it encourages all the Yeshivas to step up their game. And too bad the trolls are already out for you.

  • usefull

based on my yeshiva experience it can be hard to figure out the right yeshiva and even once you know which yeshiva, the other bochurim that will be there can make that year totally different than the others. So far I’ve only seen a list of chabad yeshivas info on http://chabadyeshivas.info/ this could be helpful to a lot of people.

  • I dunno...

I can see him not getting accepted into another yeshiva. Yeshivois aren’t perfect and none of them want to be scrutinized on the internet by their own bochurim. I certainly don’t know how he intents to videotape shiurim for his cause…

  • First...

First JCW (CHW), now this… the entire system has been put into the hands of youngsters to call the shots. N’urim p’nei z’keinim yalbinu…

  • good intentions

I see here good intentions here , no doubt

Fact is that Yeshivos change very fast, from 1 year to the next one

Most of the time it depends on the bochrim ,who creates the envirement
if a bochur is a masmid he will be able to learn in almost any yeshivah, He will benefit much more by chosing the best magidei shiurim

If someone is just looking for a big time, he knows what to look for anyways

  • Mendys the best!

Whatever he does he’s successfull so I’m sure this will be great!
Good luck mendy and don’t be nispoel from the negitive comments.
    Go get em!

First of all I want to clarify something, the rebbeh spoke clearly about bochurim utilizing their time in positive interest’s which interest them in their free time (yes even bochurim get break’s) and my mashpia and parents at least believe this is a good thing to turn my efforts to.
    2. # 5 (and the rest of ;) You can find my whole campaign by either going to YeshivaGuide.com or http://fundanything.com/en/campaigns/yeshiva-guide-for-the-perplexed-what-you-need-to-know?col=-18490
    3. #7 I am aware that some Yeshivos may not be thrilled with this but I hope to convince them otherwise and the Hanhalos I have spoken to so far are on board and supportive of this project.
Lastly #2,3,4, and 6 thanks for the support especially 3 thanks for defending me I really do appreciate the backing
If anyone else has any more question you can feel free to contact me at yeshivaguide@gmail.com

  • good concept but need to find a new original name

the “Yeshiva Guide to the Perplexed” is the copyrighted name of yhe yeshiva university student handbook for decades..

  • great idea

You can see from this guy how many untapped talent there is in the yeshiva. Kol Hakavod. The day will come that I will benefit from this website when i need to send my boys to yeshiva.

  • Esty B

Why must people be so negative? This is a nice idea to try to help people. If it will help even just a few families looking for a yeshiva…it would be worth the try.

  • to #9

who would you like to actually do things? the older people? the roshei yeshivos? mashpiem? they are the ones who are doing nothing!! at least this young man is proactive. if you are so confident in yourself or someone who is as old as you than you think of a good idea too. until then stop making stupid comments

  • amazed

This is something that is long overdue!! My boys went to yeshiva based on what a few of their friends knew. I was the only parent I knew who drove out or flew out to visit the ones they were interested in…..most people can’t afford it and it can negatively impact their sons if the information overheard on the “street” is not accurate. This sounds like an incredible idea whose time has come!! Now we all have to step up and financially give our approval so he can make this idea a reality! I have already put my dollars into his campaign.
