Yeshivah Reports Savings Expected with Solar Power

The Lubavitch Yeshivah International School for Chabad Leadership of Oak Park, Michigan, which opened nearly a year ago, was built with the latest technology in solar-electric power.

The state-of-the-art 45,000 square-foot is outfitted with a turnkey 48.5 KW Photovoltaic System was installed and plans for interconnecting to the DTE grid meter is scheduled for the near future.

With the high efficiency solar panels offering the highest solar energy production available, the school will save more than $253,453 in utility savings over the life of system, with an average monthly utility savings of $845 over system life of twenty years.

Rabbi Mendel Stein, Development Director, said, “By installing the solar system, the school will reduce Green House Gas emissions by 1,067 tons of CO2 over 25 years. It is a significant savings.”

    Does this mean that you will provide scholarships for students since you are saving so much money on electric?

    Or does this just mean that the cost of tuition goes up because you are state of the art?

      Really? $845 a month savings and all you can think of is your lousy entitlement? The world owes you nothing and the sooner you internalize this the better off we’ll all be.

    This large campus is defiantly state of the art! You won’t believe u r in a lubab yeshiva, let alone in detroit! Its a museum in use!
