Spirits Lifted in Shabbos of Unity in Morristown

Over 200 bochurim from the Yeshivas of Baltimore, New Haven, and Tomchei-Tmimim Morristown, along with many other bochurim from the tri-state area, came together for a Shabbos Achdus in Morristown, New Jersey, in connection with  the Rebbe’s  bakasha nafshis in 5746: to arrange events that promote achdus on the Shabbos before Shavuos.

After catching up with friends, many of whom haven’t been together for quite some time, they gathered for a group photo in front of the iconic Yeshiva Building. After teffilas mincha they heard a shiur from Rabbi Yosef Yitschock Kalmenson, Rosh Yeshiva of New Haven on the Alter Rebbe’s Shita in Tosefes Shabbos. Later all joined in for a lively seder nigunim led by the dynamic Mashpia Rabbi Ephraim Peikarski, of Morristown.

Following Kabolas Shabbos everyone made their way to the especially-set auditorium for a lavish Seudas Shabbos, expertly prepared by the in house Chef, Dovid Solomon. Throughout the night bochurim heard from Rabbi Aharon Dovid Gancz, Menahel Ruchni of Morristown, who in turn introduced their fellow bochurim to share a thought, each representing their Yeshiva. After the main course was served, the renowned Rabbi Moshe Wolberg, who flew in from Manchester especially for Shabbos, moved the crowd in his unique manner on the topic of maintaining true unity and ahavas yisroel. Even after bentching, the Farbrengen went well past midnight.

Shabbos morning began with shiurim in chassidus given by the legendary Mashpia Rabbi Meilech Tzweibel in Yiddish and Rabbi Peikarski in English. Mashke was in abundance in the afternoon as all the bochurim, Roshei Yeshivas and Mashpi’im sat down to a grand farbrengen led by the guest speaker Rabbi Wolberg, who for the next few hours enthralled all assembled with the message of  how to achieve real bitul in a culture of  free thinkers. Following Maariv the Farbrengen continued with the participation of HaTomim Yossi Klyne, Mashpia in Baltimore, lasting until the busses came to bring the visitors back home, with their spirits uplifted in preparation for Matan Torah and Shevuos.

Shabbos was arranged by the shluchim of Tomchei-Tmimim Morristown with the assistance of Rabbi Hershel Lipsker and the hanholas and shluchim of all participating yeshivas. Special thanks to Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim Haolomei and its director Rabbi Tzvi Altien, for their support bruchnius and bgashmius, as well as to Rabbi Moshe Herson, dean of Rabbinical Collage of America for all his help in making Shabbos a success.
