London Holds Pesach Kinus Torah

Lubavitch of London held their 42nd annual Kinnus Torah on Thursday Chol Hamoed. The Chairman, Reb Ephrayim Potash, began the evening by pointing out that 42 is the numerical value of “(Vedibarto) Bam”, befitting a Kinus Torah.

The guest speaker, Rabbi Hirschler, a well-noted Maggid-Shiur and speaker in the wider Frum community, discussed whether the Mitzvah of Sefiras Haomer is a one-off daily Mitzvah, or a continuous obligation to count the hours as we come closer to the Giving of the Torah. He ended by stressing the preciousness of time and the importance to use out every minute.

The Dayan, Rabbi LY Raskin, discussed the Expression “Asher Yagia Domom Al Kir Mizbachacho”, as well as the issue of repeating Pesukim during Davening, in light of the Mishna which states “One who says Modim Modim (twice) he is to be quietened”.

Then, various Bochurim spoke on an array of topics: Is the dipping of the Moror a Mitzvah or just for safety, by Menachem Vogel (NW); an explanation in the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchon Oruch Choshen Mishpot in honor of 200 Years since the Histalkus, by Mendi Schwei (Luton); an explanation in Rambam Hilchos Deos, by Avremel Raskin (SH); separating our first born sons and redeeming them are two separate Mitzvos, by Shloimi Schwei (Luton); and Zalman Ives (SH) addressed the first Mishnah in Bava Metzia (the Maseches Yeshivos are studying this year), explaining that when two people hold a Tallis they both actually own the entire Tallis and nevertheless they split it.
