Rabbi Pitches iPad Product on ‘Shark Tank’
Rabbi Moshe Weiss, a rabbi and entrepreneur from St. Paul, MN, will appear on Shark Tank, an ABC reality TV show, this Friday night. On the show, participants pitch their business ideas and investment opportunities to a team of entrepreneurs and business executives. Weiss pitched his “SoundBender” product, a device designed to amplify an iPad’s speaker without the use of batteries.
Weiss is offering a 26% stake in his company for $54,000 dollars. “You might be asking yourself, what’s a rabbi doing on Shark Tank? I love my iPad,” he told the investors on the show in a teaser released on YouTube. “I watch videos on it, I play music on it, I love it. But since the speaker is pointing away from me […] you can’t grab that sound and bring it towards your ears.”
SoundBender raised over $8000 dollars in funding via online crowd-sourcing platform Kickstarter this summer, exceeding its fundraising goal of $4500.
