Six firebombs were thrown at a Habad synagogue in Moscow on Tuesday in what is suspected to be a retaliation for the sentencing of a murderous Neo-Nazi gang to life in prison.

No one was hurt in the attack, but the walls of the building were lightly damaged.

Moscow police believe the arson may have been in response to a court ruling on Monday in which a Russian court sentenced multiple members of a neo-Nazi gang to varying prison terms.

The court handed down sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison to 12 of the gang’s members, convicted of 27 hate killings, attempted murders and plotting to blow up a power station.

The gang is believed to be one of Russia’s most vicious and violent groups.

The Moscow City Court sentenced five member of the group, the National Socialist Society North, to life, giving another seven members between 10 and 23 years. One was handed an eight-year suspended sentence.

The defendants were men mostly in their 20s and one woman, and most had pleaded partially guilty.
