Israel’s Chief Rabbi Visits Ohel

QUEENS, NY [CHI] — Israel’s Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar visited the Ohel this morning. He was there for about an hour and a half and was accompanied by Rabbi Leibel Zeintz from Brazil, Rabbi Avrohom Hecht and a number of Jewish  businessmen, including Mr Jack Avital, one of the foremost leaders of the Syrian Jewish community in North America.

    If the out-of towner would learn to respect fellow Jews, as obviously Rabbi Amar does, the world would be a better place!

    Firstly don’t criticise if you don’t know. Those levushim which you call ‘sefardi livushim’ were actually granterd by the Turkish Gov’t at the time when they ruled Israel. They are special for the chief rabbi, and he is not required to wear them at all times.

    great story! first, lubavitch came to Satmar (KY), now R’ Amar comes to the ohel. both are remarkable displays of achdus b’yisroel that we as yidden should be proud of.

    although I am not a fan of censorship, when dealing with a personage such as a chief rabbi, or a rabbi respected by large sections of our people, it is appropriate to see to it that comments are made respectfully!!!

    the levushim are not worn at all times…. i have seen Mordechai Eliyaho at the ohel without an entourage so….
