PARKLAND, FL — Swastikas were scrawled over parts of the Chabad Hebrew School of Parkland in Broward County on Wednesday.

The institution, located at 7170 Loxahatchee Rd., is affiliated with the Chabad Jewish Center on Miami Beach, which was vandalized last week.

This incident has happened as the FBI Director Robert Mueller said to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, a member of the house judiciary committee, in Washington DC., that his agency will investigate the fires that damaged Miami Beach synagogues in the past six months as hate crimes.

The FBI has jurisdiction over hate crimes motivated by intolerance of a person’s race, religion, or national origin.

CBS4 was told by the rabbi of the Miami Beach center that he believed a fire was intentionally set inside. The Torah, a religious scroll of Jewish laws and customs, a centerpiece of its religion, was taken. Pieces of the Torah were found outside. Its value is more than $40,000.

Congregation members have posted a $1,000 reward for information to find who might be responsible.

  • Head Shliach doing anything?

Our response to all such things has always been a strengthening of our maasim toivim.

Why won’t Rabbi Korf wake up. If he can’t be an effective leader he should kindly leave his post to someone more competent.

He should put his ego aside and do what the Rebbe truly wants for a change.

  • SOME ACTION NEEDED

Maybe its high time Florida get a real leader for its Shluchim. You think the Rebbe would just sit by while fires, vandalism, cranes falling on Chabad Houses were happening one after the other?

The Shluchim deserve better than what they have now.

  • A Florida Bocher

i dont understand who you guys think you are to talk like that about a head shliach who as sent here by the rebbe and doing is doing a great job for over 50 years!
and that 1st comment, 1st you right that “Our response to all such things has always been a strengthening of our maasim toivim” which is the right thing, then you go on speak really nasty about a head sheliach who i know personaly help many many people, i dont understand you.

To “Head Shliach” and “Some Action”:

Put aside politics and think for a moment what you are saying. You say that Rabbi Korf is not doing his job as a leader, but the Rebbe would never sit idle while this was happening.

Are you saying that the Rebbe is not able to watch over his Shluchim anymore? Or is he also sitting by while this is happening? So Rabbi Korf can stop this from happening but the Rebbe can’t?

Do not use a very sad and horrible event to continue hate. On the contrary, we should all try to do something more positive to combat the forces that do this.
