Two Pedestrians Struck Within Minutes of Each Other

A yungerman and a Bochur were both struck by cars in two separate incidents that occurred within minutes of each other. In both incidents, one in front of 770 and another in front of Empire Shtiebel, BH no one was seriously hurt.

The first incident occurred at around 10:00pm near the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and Empire Boulevard. A Shomrim volunteer witnessed the accident and reported it over his radio, another volunteer who was at an accident scene on Albany Avenue relayed the incident to Hatzalah member.

Laying on the street, a passerby gave the victim a towel while another gave him a coat to to help keep warm while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. The driver remained on the scene.

The second incident occurred in the service road of Eastern Parkway opposite 770. A Bochur was struck by an SUV as he was crossing the street which then fled the scene.

The Bochur got up and walked over to the Hatzalah ambulances for help. Ironically, the vehicle which stuck him then parked in front of 770 and the driver went into 770.

While being treated for his injuries the victim’s father arrived at the scene and with the help of Shomrim the driver was identified and confronted. After explaining the severity of leaving the scene of an accident he yielded, apologized and cooperated.

Thank g-d in both victims were not seriously hurt.

Empire and Brooklyn is dangerous b/c the lights are not in sync when driving down Brooklyn. Once the light at Montgomery turns green you have to put the pedal to the metal to make the Empire light.
