Drunk Tractor Trailer Driver Injures Cop, Swipes Cruiser
A driver of a eighteen wheeled tractor trailer smashed into a cop car and injured a police officer outside the 71st precinct, then fled the scene. A chase across two precinct led to the apprehension of the driver who was drunk.
The incident occurred at around 10:00pm Tuesday, witnesses reported heard a loud crash in the vicinity of New York Avenue and Empire Boulevard. Police officers emptied out of the precinct and discovered one of their colleagues inside a smashed up police cruiser, injured, and a tractor trailer fleeing up New York Avenue.
An alert went out over police radios to keep an eye out for the runaway big rig, which was stopped a distance away at St. Johns Place and Brooklyn Avenue in the 77th Precinct.
When officers spoke to the driver it was immediately clear that he was intoxicated, he was arrested at the scene. Upon searching the driver and his truck police found a quantity of narcotics and related paraphernalia.
He was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Alcohol and Possession of Narcotics.
The female police officer was taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life threatening injures to her leg and back.

If I am not mistaken, NY City has the most cop collisions in the US. Cops are hitting people and people are hitting cops.
