Accident on Eastern Pkwy and Kingston Ave

CROWN HEIGHTS — Late Tuesday morning there was an accident on Eastern Pkwy between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave, across the street from 770. The incident happened when a commercial van short stopped, causing a chain of events. A pickup truck behind him shorts stopped as well, however a mini-van behind him couldn’t stop on time and rear-ended the pickup.

Upon impact the mini-vans airbags deployed, keeping the passenger safe. However the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, hit his head against the windshield. While the airbag hit him in the chest area.

The driver was visibly shaken up and was overheard screaming, “I am on fire, I am on fire”, when he was obviously not.

FDNY EMS responded to the scene and treated his injuries. He was then transported to a hospital for further checkups and treatment.

CrownHeights.info would like to remind all residents: Wear a seatbelt, it works!!

  • Seatbelts:

Thats so scary! I hope all shall be well…and fortunately I have learned the good way of how important seatbelts are due to some accidents that I know very well…

  • Following...

Not only are seatbelts important but so is the follow at a safe distance rule important. For every ten mile that you are driving there needs to be one car length between you and the car in front of you. Also, when you stop you should be able to see where the tires of the car in front of you meet the pavement.

  • Uhm.. what else.

  • on fire

Screaming “I am on fire” wont get you more money,
It may however get you a ticket for tailgating.

  • Consideration

A total lack of consideration on part of the victim with the posting of these pictures. It’s not the first time that they have such detailed pictures. I know if something like this would happen to me I would most definitely not want such pictures taken.

  • Respect

I really dont think its right to put pictures up of the injured. Respect their privacy as you would one of our own!

  • to seatbelt

do you have a video demonstrating how to put on a seatbelt.
maybe the guy didnt know how to do that.
