4 Accidents this Morning on Empire Blamed on Icy Conditions

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A warm sun and gripping cold caused snow to melt and freeze over this morning on the eastbound lanes of Empire Boulevard, which was the culprit behind 4 accidents this morning.

More pictures in the Extended Article.

Around 9:00am was the first incident where a car tried to stop when coming up at the intersection of Empire and Troy and skidded into oncoming traffic and was hit a by a truck. Then at 9:30am a minivan heading in the same direction attempted to stop but couldn’t and rear ended a car and sliped into a parked car. Another incident happened as police were filling out the accident report at around 9:45am where a car service swiped a parked car near the same intersection.

The last reported incident took place at around 10:00am when a car attempted to slow down as it approced the intersection of Albany and Empire and skidded into the rear of a parked car.

In all incidents there were thankfully no serious injuries reported.

Boro Park has the giant Maimonides Hospital as their famous landmark.

Besides 770 Crown Heights should have a huge auto body repair shop as ours! It would definitely be a money making operation and convenient.

It would be nice if the snow plows would come around CH more frequently. Then we wouldn’t have such issues.I live on Malbone and they rarely come there after it snows. Only if we call 311 and then they barely do anything. They drive thru without salting and barely plow. We’ve seen them!

Forget the repair shop car dents in CH are a sort of trademark and a sign of pride.

On union and utica we had 5 accidents. i called 311 but i waited no one came after the 5 accidents i called 911 and went to see if something could be done like warn the drivers… i saw 4-5 policemen downstairs one of them was trying to help a mini school bus going backward to get out of this icy street. the driver drove carefully and slowly, obviously he had children in the bus…the policeman got so made and start cursing him why he was going so slow, so i reply to him “the driver is driving safely b/c he has children in the bus”, unbelievable he didn’t know what to say he didn’t realize i was standing behind him.
i told the other one that they should do something b/c of # accidents that happened, so they blocked the street to prevent more accidents, till they cleaned up the street from ice.
so, sorry to all the drivers that got so mad not being able to go throught union street but believe me it was better for you!!!!

There has been and there currently is a Full Time Body shop in crown heights that is owned and operated by a lubavicher from crown heights and fully shomer Shabbos.
BUT for some odd reason people in crown heights seem not to support their Owen community and go ELSEWHERE when they have an accident or have a problem with their car, there is even a advertisement on this page you are looking at (on the right hand side) for a collision shop here in Crown heights.
P.S. And that goes for food shopping and clothing.
Thing!!!! you go to Boro Park for food shopping it take 20 min to get there and 20 min drive back that would be 2 gallons of gas Approx $8.00 Plus 40 Minutes of you time (going by average pay)$10.00 thats $18.00
So how much do you actually save by traveling out of crown heights for shopping??????????
