Two Jewish Men Stabbed in Targeted Attack In The Golders Green Section of London

A violent stabbing attack in the heart of London’s Jewish community has sent shockwaves across the Orthodox world, after two Jewish men were wounded in what authorities and community leaders are increasingly viewing as a targeted antisemitic assault.

The attack took place Wednesday morning, April 29, in the heavily Jewish neighborhood of Golders Green, a hub of Torah life, schools, and kosher establishments. According to multiple reports, a 45-year-old assailant was seen running along Golders Green Road armed with a knife, actively seeking to attack visibly Jewish individuals.

Two victims—a man in his 70s and another in his 30s—were stabbed in separate locations, including near shops and in proximity to a synagogue. Both were treated at the scene and transported to hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Eyewitness accounts and security footage indicate the attacker deliberately targeted Jewish pedestrians, underscoring fears that the assault was not random but ideologically motivated.

In a development that has drawn widespread praise, members of Shomrim—the Jewish volunteer neighborhood watch—responded immediately and were instrumental stopping the rampage and directing the police to the attacker.

The suspect was ultimately apprehended after police deployed a Taser and mace. He reportedly also attempted to attack responding officers during the arrest.

Emergency care was provided by Hatzola, the Jewish volunteer ambulance service, whose rapid response ensured that the victims received immediate medical attention.

British authorities, including counter-terrorism units, are now investigating the incident, and have not ruled out a terror-related motive. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the stabbing as an “utterly appalling” act, while other senior officials emphasized that such violence strikes at the very fabric of British society.

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis called for “meaningful action,” warning that the Jewish community has faced a sharp escalation in attacks in recent months and that “words of condemnation are no longer sufficient.”

This attack comes amid a deeply troubling surge in antisemitic incidents across the United Kingdom. In recent weeks alone, Jewish institutions in North London—including synagogues and Hatzola ambulances—have been targeted in arson attacks and other acts of violence.

Authorities are also examining potential links between some of these incidents and extremist groups, with ongoing investigations into possible foreign influence.

Golders Green itself has been at the center of this wave, making Wednesday’s attack particularly alarming for residents who have already been on heightened alert.
