New Information Emerges On Helicopters Crown Heights Visit, Was Completely Coordinated and Legal

by CrownHeights.info

A viral story broken on Crown Heights.info of a helicopter that landed on an empty Crown Heights lot now makes much more sense, and it turns out was also completely legal.

The story broke of a helicopter that landed in the empty lot on the corner of Carroll Street and Troy Ave in Crown Heights, picking up an unknown number of people and taking back off. The story was compounded with a news story posted that the NYPD was looking in to the incident.

The story became much more clear Wednesday when Air Traffic Control recordings from the day of the flight became public, showing that the helicopter requested permission to land in the lot, which was granted by Air Traffic Control.

The flight, landing, and later take off was all coordinated between the pilot, owner of the lot, and Traffic Control, according to the recording, making the flight completely legal.

According to reports from the NYPD later that day, an NYPD chopper followed the helicopter after it left Crown Heights all the way until it landed in Lakewood. There they spoke with the pilot in what was described as a cordial conversation.

A helicopter landing in Crown Heights is hardly normal, making the viral story understandable, with a follow up by the NYPD on such an incident also to be expected.

This “article” is just false propaganda for whoever was flying that chopper. Regardless of them getting clearance from JFK to land, landing in such an area is against city code unless cleared prior with the proper authorities – which it was not, despite the pilot leading the ATC to believe it was.
