FDNY Responds to Manhole Fire On Kingston Ave and Eastern Parkway Wednesday

Smoke coming from a manhole on the corner of Kingston Ave and Eastern Parkway Service Lane brought firefighters to the corner of 770 Wednesday afternoon.
Pedestrians and Crown Heights residents first saw smoke rising from the grate of the manhole at approximately 2:30pm, triggering a call to 911.
Even before the the firetrucks showed up, flames could be seen rising from the hole, sending thick smoke into the air.
Firefighters quickly doused the flames with water, and the intersection was reopened.
