First Group From Crown Heights Donates Plasma

by CrownHeights.info

To save one life is to save the entire world.

Seventeen Crown Heights residents who had their blood tested for COVID-19 antibodies went to Bethlehem, PA Tuesday morning to donate plasma for those critically ill with the virus.

This group of donors is the first from the mass Save A Life Antibody Testing Event that took place in Crown Heights last week. The testing was coordinated through the Mayo Clinic with the of organizations including Lakewood Bikur Cholim, Hatzalah, and the Gedaliah Society.

The “convalescent plasma” is the liquid part of blood that is collected from patients who have recovered from the novel coronavirus disease. The plasma of those recovered from COVID-19 may contain antibodies that studies show may help others in critical condition fight the infection.
