Seven Sassoon Children Laid to Rest in Jerusalem

The seven Jewish siblings who died in a devastating house fire in Flatbush were laid to rest in Jerusalem on Monday at an emotional ceremony attended by several thousand mourners.

Friends and relatives of the Sassoon family attended the service, as well as supporters who only learned of the tragedy through the news. The chief rabbi of Israel and mayor of Jerusalem also paid their respects.

The bodies of the children, ages 5 to 16, were flown to Israel overnight from New York and were immediately taken to Jerusalem in a convoy escorted by police. According to Jewish tradition, funerals take place as soon as possible after death.

“Why seven? Seven beautiful lilies,” the children’s father, Gabriel Sassoon, cried out in an anguished eulogy. “So pure. So pure.”

Can bear to look at the open fresh graves all nearly in a row as look at (all) those sandbags

it has been reported that the house didn’t have a smoke detector. if true, a $7 smoke detector could have prevented the deaths of these 7 innocent children. I hope the father will campaign for this and salvage some of his complicity! anyone reading this whose home doesn’t have should buy one for their home, and also make sure their neighbors and relatives and acquaintances have one.

Why publicize that commant. It’s very hertfull & wrong to even bring up such a commant like that. How would you think if gd 4 bid you wear involved in a situation like that. What would you say?? Theirs a saying “The less you say, the better you are”. WHY WHY HERT POEPLES FEELINGS????????????????????? something I don’t understand…….please explain

it is more important to possibly prevent this from recurring, than possibly hurting someone’s feelings. if u really care about other people talk to 10 people (neighbors, friends, relatives) before pesach who don’t have smoke detectors, emphasize how this tragedy occurred, so it scares them into getting it.

I wish each of the eugiliizers here and in Israel started and ended their eulogy with this fact, and used the terrible shock of this tragedy to prevent this from recurring.

wouldn’t the father wish someone shocked him this way and his 7 kids still be alive!

There is a time and place for everything, now is NOT the time for such comments, if you strongly believe in smoke detectors then start a campaign!
Now is the time to support and sympathize with the father and family and give all support!

    May we see moshiach soon!
