Weekly Living Torah Video: Restored Footage

It’s almost 20 years after Gimmel Tammuz, and unseen videos of the Rebbe continue to surface.

Six weeks ago, an individual delivered to JEM’s Living Archive preservation project  a pile of original silent 8mm films of the Rebbe, photographed in the 1970s.

The films, which were unseen by the general public until now, will be featured in Living Torah videos during the coming months.

The first of the films appears in this week’s Living Torah – a scene of the Rebbe Davening for the Amud on his father’s Yahrzeit, 20 Av 5735 – 1975. This particular film includes beautiful details such as the Rebbe leaving his room on his way to 770’s main synagogue, the Rebbe holding his personal Torah scroll and bringing it to the Bima, and more.

The films are accompanied by a commentary by Rabbi Yitzchak Tsap, Living Torah’s director, who points out interesting and historical notes.

If you yourself have, or if you know someone who has, films, audio or photographs of the Rebbe, please allow our archivists to help you preserve the materials and share them with the world. Please contact JEM at jem@jemedia.org.
