The investigation continues today after an accident on Interstate 80 in Venango County left three people dead late Wednesday night.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. near the Clintonville exit.
According to state police, a westbound tractor-trailer and SUV both lost control and crossed over the median into the eastbound lanes.
The tractor-trailer then struck and flipped onto a mini-van, which was heading eastbound.
The driver of the SUV, 66-year-old Thomas Munsell, of Michigan, died in the crash. His wife suffered minor injuries.
Two passengers in the mini-van were also killed. Officials say one victim was a 10-year-old boy and the other has been identified as 20-year-old Pasha Azulay.
Also, two adults and three children in the mini-van were injured and taken to UPMC Seneca for treatment.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified as John Davis, of Ohio. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile, one lane going eastbound on I-80 remains closed and the other is open as the investigation into the crash continues.
Both lanes westbound are open to traffic.
