This man is not lubavitch, he is a modern orthodox man and the chief rabbi of the United Kingdom.
He shared a very deep connection with the Rebbe and maintained a close relationship with him for many tears. He has helped shluchim and Chabad Rabbi’s all over the UK in the years since he has been chief rabbi. He is a well respected and well spoken man who truly cares about Chabad and means no malice when referring to the Rebbe as ‘previous’ it is just how he sees it now that he is no longer with us.
In the days after the tragic attacks in Mumbai he gave a powerful address to the congregants of many United Synagogues around the UK which has lifted the profile of Chabad in the countries here. He should not be slated for his poor choice of words, but rather educated by those Chabad Rabbi’s who work as pulpit Rabbi’s in different United Synagogues, affiliated to the Chief Rabbi’s Office. I hope that now puts it into perspective and you can watch this interview in a different light.

He is not a Lubavitcher, but he is Tomim being that he learnt in Kfar Chabad he is a very close friend of Lubavitch In the UK and around the world he has had Yechidus with the Rebbe, and it was the Rebbe’s inspiration that made him choose to be a Rabbi and now chief Rabbi. He has also written a book on the rebbes sichos.
