In Wake of Synagogue Attack, Rebbe Video Goes Viral

In the hours following the barbaric murder of four Jews and a Druz police officer in Jerusalem on Tuesday morning, Mendel Gourarie and Levi Treitel were shaken, like so many others around the world. Working at JEM, they discussed the most appropriate response. “On a day like today,” they decided, “everyone’s crying. Let’s hold the strong message for a day or two.”

They chose a short clip of the Rebbe from Peace Upon the Land a new DVD which, by Divine Providence, was had just been completed and delivered several days earlier – in which the Rebbe expresses exactly that sentiment.

Indeed, the simple, sad, post struck a chord. Within less than 24 hours it was reposted by more than 1,000 people from across the spectrum, both Jewish and non-Jewish.  The post has since been viewed more than 100,000 times.

Many people added their own words, some poetic, others angry or sad.

History somehow never changes. “We need peace for all Jews and non-Jews in Israel” beautiful words from an amazing man. That’s always the way our way the Jewish way.”

“it is somehow supportive and strengthening to hear the guidance of the Lubavitcher rebbe in encouraging the soulful cry and to cry out to God to hear our voices and bring the solution…”
