8:00pm: Chassidus Applied with Rabbi Jacobson

Following the major success and popularity of the first broadcasts of MyLife: Chassidus AppliedRabbi Simon Jacobson will air Episode 15 tonight, Sunday, May 4th (4 Iyar) here on CrownHeights.info, beginning at 8:00pm. This week’s class is titled “Jewish Life: Unprofessionalism in the Workplace, Gender Roles, Birth Control, Critique of Our Community Leaders.”

Is it alright to practice birth control to prevent overwhelming tuition costs? What can we do about corrupt leadership? Why are many Jewish organizations unprofessional and behave in ways that border on the unethical? Is it okay when informalities infiltrate the workplace creating blurred lines and questionable behavior?

Traditionally, a woman’s role was maintaining the home and raising her children whereas a man was charged with the responsibility of making the money. Today, a woman’s role extends far beyond the home to make ends meet. Is it fair to expect women to double their capacity — working while taking on the brunt of childbearing and housework?

Other topics to be discussed include gender roles in and outside the home and how to lift Tanya off the page and make it relevant in your life today.

Tune in this Sunday night for the next episode of MyLife: Chassidus Applied, which will address these sensitive issues. This hour-long dose of insight is meant to inform, inspire and empower us by applying the teachings of Chassidus to help us face practical and emotional challenges and difficulties in our personal lives and relationships.

The topics in this Sunday’s hour-long broadcast will include:

Unprofessionalism in Religious Organizations

Teachers and Leadership Today

Birth Control and Tuition

Gender Roles

Making Tanya Practical

MyLife: Chassidus Applied addresses questions that many people are afraid to ask and others are afraid to answer. When asked about the sensitive topics he has been addressing, Rabbi Simon Jacobson commented, “I understand that the stakes are high, but the silence and lack of clarity on matters plaguing the community can no longer go unaddressed. The stakes of not providing answers are even higher.”

The on-going series has provoked a significant reaction from the community, with thousands of people viewing each live broadcast and hundreds of questions pouring in. At the root of every question and personal challenge tackled by the series is the overarching question: Does Judaism have the answers to my personal dilemmas?

In inimitable “Jacobson-fashion”, the broadcast answers people’s questions in simple, clear language while being heavily sourced. Each episode is jam-packed with eye-opening advice from the Rebbeim, gleaned from uncovering surprising gems in their letters, sichos and maamorim that address our personal issues with disarming relevance. Simultaneously, Rabbi Jacobson is able to crystallize a concept quickly, succinctly, and poignantly for any level of listener.

All episodes are immediately available for viewing in the MLC’s archive and can be downloaded as MP3’s for listening on the go.
