Students Volunteer to Help Terror Victims in Israel

Dozens of students from colleges across the United States arrived in Kfar Chabad, Israel in June as part of an exciting and stimulating Chabad on Campus IsraeLinks tour. They were accompanied by Rabbi Zalman and Yehudis Bluming and their family.

The students’ visit to Kfar Chabad included volunteering as participants in a Chabad Terror Victims Project (CTVP) program to pack hundreds of gift baskets and candy to be distributed to children throughout Israel who, themselves, or their family members, were victims of violent acts of terror.

The students listened intently to Rabbis Menachem Kutner and Yossi Swerdlov as they described the vitally important, life-sustaining activities of CTVP on behalf of victims of terror and their families. As part of the day’s activities they were also taken on an extensive tour of Kfar Chabad, including the industrial area, the etrog orchards, and the unique 770 building which is a replica of 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Height, New York, where the Rebbe oversaw the worldwide programs of Chabad.

Rabbi Yossi Itks of IsraeLinks, who organized the tour, said: “This visit is very important for these students. It gives them a direct, hands-on opportunity to participate in a wonderful mitzvah that will bring comfort and hope to families shattered by terror.”

Rabbi Yossi Swerdlov added: ”It is very beautiful for groups like these students to come and spend some time in Israel. It is even greater when they actually get to do something for the people of Israel.”

The students left Kfar Chabad excited and spiritually uplifted by their experiences. To a person, they felt that these feelings would accompany them, and stay with them, on their return to the United States.
