German Minister Dedicates New Chabad Nursery

The German Minister of Family Affairs and youth, Dr. Kristina Schroder, visited the Chabad Kindergarten in Berlin to dedicate a new Nursery.

The purpose of the visit was to dedicate the new nursery department, which was recently opened. She watched a presentation by the children and expressed her positive impression saying “This kindergarten is a nice example for all of us…This institution is a sign of the growing Jewish life in Germany.”

The Director of the Kindergarten, Mrs. Annette Lentz, showed her around and welcomed the children and guests. The president of the Jewish community of Berlin, Dr. Gideon Joffe, thanked Chabad for opening this new nursery thus supporting “The growth and development of Jewish life in Berlin.”

The children in the new nursery are born to parents that are Jews from German and Russian speaking backgrounds. Daily learning, combined with professional education, ensures a strong foundation for the children, and is one of the reasons for the quick expansion.

The Kindergaren was established in 2004 with the support of Or Avner. At that time there were three children; today there are 150 children in the kindergarten and the school. The kindergarten has expanded so rapidly that a second kindergarten will be opened after the summer in Berlin.

The event was strongly covered by the national German press. It is published on the home page of the German Ministry of Family Affairs website, with a film of the visit.
