Shluchim Mark 50 Years of Chabad in California
This past Sunday and Monday, West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch had their 42nd annual Kinus, celebrating 50 years of Shlichus in California.
Over 200 Shluchim participated in two days of inspiration and Chizuk under the theme בשנת היובל הזאת תשובו איש אל אחוזתו.
The Kinus was held at Chabad of the Valley Headquarters in Tarzana and at Chabad of Encino. The host of the wonderful two day event was the director of Chabad of Encino Rabbi Yehoshua B. Gordon.
The program began Sunday with limud Toras Rabeinu with shiurim by Rabbi Mendel Cohen, Mashpia in Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon Chabad and Rabbi Moshe Kesselman of Los Angeles.
In the evening there was a grand banquet, at which the Shluchim heard powerful and inspirational words from the Head Shliach to the West Coast Rabbi Boruch S. Cunin. Rabbi Cunin shared the importance of marking “yovel shonim,” 50 years of Shlichus, and reminded Shluchim of their unique responsibility to fulfil the Rebbe’s words in bringing Moshiach.
Following Rabbi Cunin, the group was addressed by Rabbi Yehoshua B. Gordon, Rabbi Ezra Schochet – Rosh Yeshiva of Ohr Elchonon Chabad, Rabbi Eli Hecht and Rabbi Yonah Fradkin. The Master of ceremonies for the evening was Rabbi Mordechai Einbinder, director of Chabad of Tarzana and world-renowned orator.
Following the dinner, many Shluchim remained and farbrenged until the wee hours of the morning.
The second day of the Kinus, at Chabad of Encino, was a special Shluchim retreat with Rabbi Manis Friedman, who discussed various important Shlichus related issues.

Basically what they have done is totally disregard the existence of Rabbi Shmuel Dovid Raitchik A”H who was there way before, without all the accolades and pomp and fanfare. I knew him for the tzaddik and most devoted chasid that he was who simply went around quietly doing the Rebbe’s rotzon where ever and with whom ever he could. If anyone deserves the greatest credit and greatest honor for amazing shlichus it would be him, and yet you have completely swept him under the rug.

Rabbi Raitchik ZT”L was sent to California over 70 years ago! What’s with the 50 years? Revionist history..
