Mystical Tu Bishvat Seder in Mineola

Tu B’Shevat, known as the “New Year for Trees,” was celebrated with a special mystical ‘Seder’ at Chabad of Mineola in Long Island.

Led by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, an in-depth presentation was made with special resolutions by all who attended to engage in soul-searching — the same way people do on Rosh Hashanah.

“We learnt,” explained Hanita Hallak, “just as fruit give us pleasure, we are here to give Hashem pleasure. Just as we shelter the seedlings of trees, so the seedlings that live in our shade, our children and grandchildren – need careful focus to grow up to be a next generation that gives us Yiddishe nachas.”

The Tu Bishvat Seder included the four cups of wine and the seven specious of fruit the Land of Israel is blessed with.

“Originally all trees bore fruit,” concluded Rabbi Perl, “as will also be the case in the Era of Moshiach, for a fruitless tree is a symptom of an imperfect world, so may we merit speedily this perfect world.”
