Smolensk Jews Mark Lag BaOmer

Jewish families from the Smolensk Region in Russia gathered in the Smolensk Jewish Community Center – Beit Malkin for a Lag BaOmer celebration!

Rabbi Levi Mondshine, Shliach and Rav of Smolensk and the Smolensk Region, opened the gathering, He told the children about the uniqueness of the day and its special message of ahavas yisroel.

Psukim were recited and tzdaka was passed around. A clown burst into the room, engaging all the children in fun and games. Even the adults in attendance were drawn into the happy atmosphere. Later, everyone enjoyed dinner and a bounce house.

As soon as the rain let up, everyone went outside to light a bonfire in honor of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.
