Over 1000 Attend Lecture by “Son of Hamas”

Chabad of the Conejo hosted a lecture with Mosab Hassan Yousef, author of the book “Son of Hamas”. The lecture, held at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel, draw an estimated crowd of well over a thousand people. Lines started forming over an hour before the lecture to gain entrance to the much publicized event and to pass through a security check due to the nature of the lecture.

The evening was moderated by Rabbi Dovid Eliezri of Chabad of Yorba Linda. Rabbi Eliezri engaged Mosab in a 90 minute discussion on his life, his decision to spy for Israel, his family, and his view on the current state of the Middle East. Joining the lecture was U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman, who joined Rabbi Moshe Bryski in presenting Mosab Yousef with an American Flag (which flew over the Capital) as well as adding words of praise for his courage, sacrifice and heroism.

Born in Ramallah, in the West Bank, to Sheikh Hassan Youssef, one of the prominent founding leaders of Hamas, young Mosab was groomed from an early age to assume the leadership of the movement’s political wing. He did, in fact, become an integral part of the organization and was imprisoned several times by Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence service. After initially towing the Palestinian line of defying his captors, he began seeing things in a different light when he realized how Hamas was torturing its own people in a relentless search for collaborators and in its quest to advance its single-minded agenda of hatred and bloodshed.

The more Yousef discovered, the more he realized he could not go on living and supporting the big lie. He embarked on a six-year quest of discovery and exposure that jeopardized Hamas, endangered his family and threatened his life. During this time, he worked covertly to assist Israel. It is said that the information Yousef supplied prevented dozens of suicide attacks and the assassinations of many Israelis. This led to his becoming a wanted man by his own people and his father issuing the following declaration: “I, Sheikh Hassan Yussef… my wife, sons and daughters announce that we have completely disowned the man who was our oldest son and who is called Mosab.”

The emotionally charged speaker was received by the audience with numerous interruptions of applause and a standing ovation.

    Honestly I would never trust these guys – remember the Waleed Shobat character who was running around a few years ago preaching the same tropes about terrorism, self-discovery, and redemption?

    I can’t help but wonder in the back of my mind if they chuckle back in their hotel suites about these gullible Jews and their easy money as they wire their speaking commissions back to their Islamic Jihad cells in Qalqilya …

    I agaree with no 2 and 4 are they to be trusted, the Hamas network is very sly and insidious-what a terrible and dangerous faux pas this would be if this was all a cover up. if it is true, the his life is in everpresent danger to himself and to his family and friends. May the Almighty protect this righteous goy from the revenge of the arab nations, as revenge is their raison d’être

    I was surprised to see that this video has been taken off you-tube and is now for sale for $18. True, it may be a good fundraiser. However, don’t you think widespread dissemination would serve a better purpose.
