Chabad Center of Kendall & Pinecrest 15th Anniversary

On Monday, December 6, Chabad Center of Kendall/Pinecrest celebrated “Fifteen Years of Commitment” in the community, with a beautiful dinner at the Dadeland Marriott paying tribute to Danny & Staci Berry, Michael & Grant Miller, from Community Newspapers & Joe & Aida Roisman. The dinner highlighted the various types of outreach of Chabad Center of Kendall/Pinecrest and its far reaching impact on the community. People from all segments of the community participated in the elegant celebration including local politicians.

The elegant dinner began with sumptuous food served at different stations. As people dined on herb crusted tenderloin, panco crusted miso glazed salmon, sushi and other delicacies, they schmoozed and mingled. After everyone was welcomed, in his opening remarks, Rabbi Harlig, spiritual leader of Chabad Center of Kendall/Pinecrest, imparted a beautiful Chanukah message. “On the holiday of Chanukah, every night, we light an additional Chanukah candle to illuminate the environment and the world around us. We can never be satisfied with the light of today, each day we need to accomplish more. Although, Chabad has accomplished a great deal in its short fifteen years, we can’t rest on our laurels, there are still many lives to be touched. The future of our community is up to each one of us sitting in this room,” he remarked.

Guest speaker, Rush Lowe, a news reporter from WSVN Channel 7 shared the enormous impact that Chabad had on his personal life and the incredible , loving outreach Chabad performs in the community. He encouraged the audience to take pride and revel in the accomplishments of Chabad as they watched an energetic video featuring Chabad Center of Kendall/Pinecrest outreach in the community and its impact on children, teens, families, adults, children with special needs, through a myriad of programs, social services and crisis counseling. The dinner which was held on the sixth night of Chanukah featured a touching menorah lighting ceremony in which each flame was lit by a couple who was touched by a different type of Chabad’s outreach. Subsequently, a surprise visit by the Bottle Dancers entertained everybody in the audience as they targeted the honorees and some of the people in the audience with their jokes. They then danced the Hora with bottles on their head as people from the audience kicked up their feet and joined in with them.

The highlight of the evening was when each honoree was called up and recognized with an award, praising them for their dedication and commitment to Chabad and the community. Each honoree received accolades and a beautiful award. The evening concluded with a sumptuous buffet of elegant desserts.
