Saratoga’s Shalom Success!

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY [CHI] — Young and old, from as close as Albany and as far as Israel joined to celebrate Jewish food, art and music in the heart of Saratoga’s historic Congress Park. Rabbi Abba Rubin, director of the sponsoring Saratoga Chabad, called the event a major success with over 800 people enjoying the festival.

People crowded around to watch master artist Morris Katz creating dozens of paintings by the time the afternoon was done.

The “Kleine Klezmer” of Albany and “The Freiliche Farmer” from Vermont entertained with Yiddish oldies and Modern Israeli tunes and melodies, while summer Merkos Shluchim Efraim Rubin of Lake George and Choni Wineberg of Kansas City introduces scores to the Mitzvah of Tefilin as Giant MitzvahBobs cartoon characters promoted the Rebbe’s Ten Mivtzoim.

Kids had their faces painted, and watched two magical performances by Laugh-a-Lot the Clown and the High Peaks Juggling act. The performers also circulated during the festival and taught children juggling techniques shows, while snacking on kosher falafel, and Israeli ‘Nosh.”

SHOFAR FACTORY

Festival Participants fashioned their personal Rosh HaShanah Shofar, drilling, sanding and shellacking the ram’s horn, and practice blowing Shofar sounds.

NANCY HANDWERGER displayed silk prints of the Hebrew Aleph Bet with kabbalistic and symbolic interpretations Rabbi Serebranski’s MITZVAH CENTER offered a selection of Jewish books, Mezuzos, games, DVDs and Judaica.

Saratoga Apple featured Joseph’s delicious fresh-picked produce and cold cider, while handcrafted Jewelry was displayed by Frenchy Loeb designer.
