BEND, OR — Rabbi Yitzchok and Mimi Feldman arrived in Bend in late November to set up the eighth Chabad Center in Oregon.

The Chabad center is based out of the Feldman’s home at 19747 Dartmouth Ave. The center offers a Jewish Women’s Circle that meets once a month, family holiday celebrations, Shabbat dinners and delivery of fresh challah to Jewish people on Friday afternoons.

Other programs the couple intend to start in the near future are a Jewish Kids Club, Mommy and Me, and Lunch and Learn.

The next event at the center is a Jewish Women’s Circle Feb. 11. Women are invited to “Sample our soups, Nourish your soul.”

Rabbi Yitzchok Feldman, born and raised in Brooklyn, attended Educational Institute Oholei Torah through elementary and high school, before continuing his advanced Jewish studies at Yeshivas Chabad in Bnei Brak, Israel.

As a yeshiva student, Feldman spent many years leading services and community outreach in Russia, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and Suriname. He served as a mentor to younger students in the Yeshiva Summer Program in Morristown, N.J.

He studied in Yeshivas Chabad of Queens, N.Y., to prepare for his ordination as a rabbi. In 2004, he received his rabbinical ordination from the Central Chabad Rabbinical Court in Israel.

Mimi Feldman said that growing up in the home of the Rebbe’s representatives to Pittsburgh, Penn., an open-home to all was a natural way of life.

After graduating with honors from the Yeshiva Girls High School of Pittsburgh, she received a diploma in education from Beth Chana Seminary in Safed, Israel.

She said she has “worked for a brighter Jewish future in Jewish communities in Moscow and across the United States.” She spent three years teaching at the Chabad Gan Preschool in Greenwich, Conn., and Yeshiva Achei Tmimim in Pittsburgh.

The couple were married in Pittsburgh in the winter of 2005. They are the parents of Mendel, 2, and Avremi, 3 months.
