  • Lubavitcher Yeshiva -

Putting our families at risk! Get off your high horse. Is it worth losing a childs life so that you can sound chassidish…. we did not close… get over it, and let parents leave town and not have to worry about school.

what are parents supposed to do with their kids while they go to work?

i hope i get a credit from the school for all the days they are closed and i need to pay a babysitter

  • Ready for Sandy!

I spoke around 1pm with Beth Rivkah High School office, they will be closed tomorrow. As for MTA, phase out of trains/buses will begin at 2pm, to be completely shut down by 7pm for trains, 9pm for buses. Keep safe everyone, and enjoy the “break” to have a good time with your children (if you will not be able to go to work, at least you can take advantage of the break to play games or do something at home with them! Some blessings come in disguise… and rain is a “siman Bracha” so why not?) :)

#1 – what are you freaking out about? Even if there is school and you don’t think it is safe, just keep your kids home.

#4 – you are just not living in reality. You don’t get credit from schools for acts of G-d. The schools didn’t make the storm happen, and if there is a state of emergency (which there is), you would not be required to go into work.

  • @ #4

You can’t get to work! No buses, subways & it’s not safe for cars top be on the road. Any employer who makes you come in a unrealistic.

PS I haven’t heard if MY school outside CH is open. I don’t think I’ll go in anyway.

Unlike most schools in this neighborhood, ULY does not look for reasons to close. If it will be too dangerous for the kids to be out, they will not have classes. It is not a matter of being more chassidish, it is a matter of (other) schools using every excuse in the book to not be open for the day.

    See this article….

I rest my case, unlike you I have lived through many storms and have seen first hand what it can do. Perhaps seeing the above article can help you realize that having children walking on the street can change a families like in an instant.

The school closing is not for the ones that will not send their kids to school it is for those that think that the schools should never close, it is their children that the school needs to close for. Also, dont forget the teachers who’s lives are put at risk.

To #2 as far as the anash is concearned 770 was closed down last year never to open up again ever since the mashgiach Harav Kuti Feldman was punched by a bachur.

  • Oholei Torah NEVER closes!

Leading the way is OT. The world exists on their Torah. OT never closes, learning never ends and babysitting is always provided for students of OT.

If you’ve been following the news on this website you will see that Trees have fallen on sidewalks and in a backyard play area. Boruch Hashem no one was hurt. Do you want children (and adults) to be in danger and Chas V’sholom have a tree fall on them tomorrow while walking to school or have windows popping out of its frame with shattered glass in the school classroom. Please come to your senses and have your loved ones stay safe. Stay home!

the schools ( lower grades should be closed as for the transit system nanny scaredy bloomberg is over reacting that should not be completely shut until necessary except for certain outside portions like the a to far rockaway etc

  • uly

uly has a policy of “no bittul torah” thats why the children could not go to the kosher fair last sunday. shame that while they worry so much about bittul torah they forget about the kids and rebbes!

  • rachel

what does chasidus have to do with the schools being open or closed, If it gets very bad, then your job will probrably be closed and your babysitter will not be able to come in, this is not an act of anyone it is an act of the man upstairs

  • Oholei Torah Mesivtah

Why is Oholei torah mesivtah opened?
Do they think they are being so “chassidish” putting they’re life’s in danger

  • Nice Try # 19

They were supposed to go to the Kosher Fair but did not because the JCM was not prepared for the amount of people that showed up. Where the heck are you getting your information from?

  • Just Curious.

ULY does what yeshivas in CH always do when there is a question regarding school closing due to bad weather. you never know how the weather changes overnight. if school is canceled the day before it remains canceled even if the weather is not that bad.
    Yashar Koach for planning responsibly

and where did you get your information from??! the reason the school did not go is because the event was until five and the kids had time to go with their parents then and y does a yeshiva have to make a mass bittul torah for some “kosher fair”
