Wednesday: Bikur Cholim Bus to the Ohel

This Pesach Sheini, Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights invites all women of the community to join its volunteers, families of patients and friends of the organization on a group trip to the Ohel, where they will unite in prayer for the health of the members of our community who so desperately need our prayers.

The board members of Bikur Cholim accompanied the invitation with the following letter:

At Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights, we are witness to the people in the community struggling with terrible illnesses.

People often ask our board members, “How do you do it? How do you deal with so much suffering? How do you not become depressed and just give up?”

While each person’s particular answer may differ, the essence of it is that even in the worst situation there is always hope. We don’t consider any case a “lost cause”; rather, we focus all of our energy on helping the ill individual or family through their struggle with whatever services they need.

We are currently in the month Iyar, a Hebrew acronym for the words “Ani Hashem Rofecha” – “I am God, your healer” (Exodus 15:26). We learn that this month is filled with unique healing powers and brachos for refuah that we can all tap into.

This coming Wednesday marks the 14th day of Iyar, Pesach Sheini, a day with even greater powers.

Pesach Sheni represents the “second chance” to bring a korban pesach achieved by teshuvah and tefillah. In the words of the Freidiker Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak, “Pesach Sheni means that it is never a lost cause.”

During Iyar, we ask the community to join us in asking for a complete and speedy recovery for all of our brothers and sisters in need of better health.

Bikur Cholim invites the women of the community to join us, our volunteers, families of patients and community friends, on a group trip to the Ohel where we will unite in asking for that second chance, for that miracle, that will turn around the health of our brothers and sisters in the community who so desperately need our prayers.

The Bikur Cholim Ohel Bus will leave Wednesday, May 14 – Iyar 14, at 11:00am, from the corner of President St. and Kingston Ave. It will leave the Ohel at 1:15pm and head back to Crown Heights.

The bus is for Women Only. The fee is $10.

  • An Amazing Organization !

It’s so beautiful to see these young women who are so dedicated to the mitzvah of Bikur Cholim taking on this special mitzvah. Anyone who is able to join them in davening for so many of our friends, relatives & neighbors who need real Yehuos, should make it a priority.
