Let me share with you an interesting story as told by Rabbi Moshe Lazar from Italy at a recent Oholei Torah Dinner

Once while the Rebbe was walking on Eastern Parkway to 770, he noticed a group of boys fussing over a school bus, The Rebbe asked what’s the fuss over, to which the children answered “Oholei Torah just bought a “new” used bus. The Rebbe replied, “An old bus??!! Oholei Torah should have purchased a brand new bus.”

Well the story may be 50 years old, but the news today is that Oholei Torah purchased a whole fleet of new buses.

3 brand new 2008 buses, fully equipped with air conditioning, heating, tinted windows and a state of the art sound system, These buses of the highest government safety standards and are a lot more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, and will cost much less to run then the old ones.

Bright lettering, easy to read numbers and even a picture of a Talmid in the back window, waving to all cars that may be held up a bit behind the school bus.

One thing is for sure, it’s a great way to start the new school year!

Oholei Torah will be the fourth school following Bais Rivka, Bnos Menchem and Lubavitcher Yeshiva to have added the new buses, thanks in part to various anonymous donors who contributed to the purchase of all the new busses.

The Tayere Children in oholei-torah will have sweet memories of these buses, as I do of the first buses.

These donors should not remain anonymous, maybe they can inspire others to be as generous.

It always amazes me how the " highest government standards" in the US for transporting kids to school, are more suitable for cattle.

The most uncomfortable, cramped seats, no shock absorbers, and an interior that looks like an APC

I am very happy for all the children whose parents chose to go make a living as lawyers, doctors, mortgage brokers or stock brokers. Instead of going on Shlichus or some other chinuch job. And therefore can afford to send their children to Oholei Torah and have them enjoy riding the beautiful new busses.

I feel sorry for all the children who are not welcome in Oholei Torah, because their parents can’t afford the lawyers’ and doctors’ tuition rates. And will therefore never enjoy riding the new fancy busses.

Sadly, my children will be counted among the latter. I am just a schnorer on a Shlichus job. Too bad.

But you kids on those busses, please enjoy a comfortable ride to study our holy Torah. And may Hashem save you from the plight of us Shluchim and Klei Kodesh.

Mazel Tov on the new buses. And thank you to the anonymous donors who made this possible.

you missed a picture of the back of the bus…

There is a nice picture of a boy writing the logo on a blackboard.

It’s about time. Our kids deserve a decent & reliable ride back & forth to Cheder etc. may they be used only for good & be the forefront in bringing The Geula with Th Rebbe MH"M at the front!

  • BOred on Empire

YOu know, this goes to show you something, when u have "juicy" articles, about putting mosdos down, gossip and letting out enough hot air to take us all to the moon, there’s tons and tons are "daya Zogers".

But here, people in the community, helping our own Mosdos, and all of them, and its "SHAA SHTILL".

Well I’m saying YASHER KOACH to the anonomous donors, YASHER KOACH to the Hanholah for working hard in fundraisng and the main thing, YASHER KOACH that we can do good things together!!!

To Bored on Empire: Absolutely, give credit where credit is due. But you are avoiding the point of the other stuff. What good is the beautiful bus if there are some kids that won’t be able to use them if they are not accepted to the school??!!

  • wow

This is amazing!!! It’s nice to see a school that spends their money on the kids, its nice to see them trying hard to continue making oholei torah the best school ever.

  • leeah from ch/grandmother

where is ahavas chinam. our children (who know nothing and should know nothing about the financial hardships of many families) deserve to ride in comfort. my children suffered on hot overpacked buses. They hated going on them. and in the summer!!! trips in 90-100 degrees without air conditioning.
Please be happy for them. Those who have financial hardships and can"t afford to send them here.. I understand and I wish you a healthy and wealthy new year.hashem should give you all you need and even more.
