Picture of the Day: If I Forget Thee, O Jerusalem…

Australian Bochur Gabi Kaltmann met a fellow on Mitvzoim who obviously has strong sentiments towards The Holy Land.

I’m sorry, but no Frum, Chabad website should ever make a big deal about a tattoo, any tattoo. It is Ossur Mid’Oraisa, as well as a low life thing to do. Some things should be self-understood…

I think it’s beautiful. Here is an individual who obviously doesn’t follow Halacha regarding the issur of tattoos, but he feels deeply enough about Jerusalem to etch the Kotel permanently onto his skin. kosher or not, his neshama is crying out for expression. Kol Hakavod.

  • Elderly Chasid-s tattoo

There is story about a Baal-T’shuva (maybe Ger) who had a tatoo before becoming Frum. He was in the mikva, and noticed people giving him stares, which really made him feel embarrassed. An elderly Chasid went over and comforted him. Then he showed him that he also had a tattoo (a number on his arm from the Concentration Camp).

Aren’t tattos assur?I am not the holiest person on Earth, but I loath even the idea of having one!

  • Huh?

I suppose if he’d be wearing a crucifix (with the kotel or 770 engraved on it) you’d also be kvelling and fondling it?

How about if he was holding a big juicy cheeseburger, would you admire how delicious it looks? Would you touch the bacon?

Wearing a crucifix or holding a cheeseburger and bacon is much less of an issur than wearing a tattoo!

Have we lost all sensitivity to what is right and wrong?

its a shame to show somethiong that issur without at least telling people thats its a issur min haroah

  • To all those criticizing...

This man may not be frum but is a Jew at heart and proud of it. I appreciate crownheights.info for posting this

  • A mitzvah

When he does tshuva (m’ahavah), the avoros like this tattoo actually become mitzvos! This tattoo will be a beautiful mitzvah to be admired!!

    1. Who said he’s Jewish? Maybe the point is that someone likes the Kotel enough to always have an image.
    2. Maybe the point of this post is the bochur and his point of interest, and not the religion or religiosity of the wearer of the image.
    3. Who says that’s a tattoo and not an external ink image?
    4. Who says it’s anyone’s business what someone else chooses to transgress in matters between man and his maker?

    5. I say the cool part of the post is Gabi.

It’s not about whether the guy with the tattoo did the right thing or not. He is not frum, and may not know that it’s Osur.

The issue at hand is whether, we as frum people should take pictures with it and post it on websites. The answer to that is a strong NO!

It is our job to tell the person that we understand his sentiment, and it’s beautiful that he loves Am Yisroel and Eretz Yisroel, but tattoos are against the torah. Explain out of love that the body of a Yid is too holy even for a tattoo of the Kosel!

What is definitely true is that we should not promote pictures of Yidden with tattoos.

  • Jewish dude

Maybe he is not Jewish and then this person can have as many tattoos as he wants.

  • What about a Holocaust survivor?

Just wondering if a Holocaust survivor needs to go to a doctor
to remove tattooed number from arm.
