Picture of the Day: Tough Day for Bottle Collector
A CrownHeights.info reader observed a collector of recyclable bottles having a rough day. It brings to mind the timeless Talmudic Adage “if you grab too much you grab nothing.”

It’s NOT really funny. She works hard at what she does and is making an honest living. Do you REALIZE how many bottles have to be collected to make even $10?? Have you ever stopped to wish her a Good Day?? That would be the mentchlike thing to do…………
Not nice
Not nice to make fun of the collector like that.
What have we come to??
WE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN LOOK AT, TAKE PICTURES OF, MAKE FUN OF A BOTTLE COLLECTOR!!??!!

This is disgusting. Shame on you crownheights.info. This woman is working hard to stay afloat. We should admire her.
Don-t feel too sorry for them
My previous cleaning lady used to tell me how many of these “people” have plenty of money tucked away. (She had a few friends that she met regularly on Sundays.) And I have NO sympathy for those that walk (and drive) down my block the night before recyclables are picked up, tear open the bags, take the deposit bottles and leave a mess behind.
DISGUSTING
YOU PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING. Their cart falls over and all you do is stand there and take pics? In front of their face? total chillul Hashem!
Atleast these people have a “job”, it may not be much, but it does put some food on the table, they do not mooch and complain like the rest of the Jews in CH. Personally, I think it is honorable, to do anything to put food on the table, maybe you should try to do the same, instead of doing nothing all day

Thank you for your post, #9. Too many people in CH are just beggars. That’s right! You guys just pop a whole bunch a children – then ask the government for money (Medicaid, food stamps, section 8) instead of actually trying to get jobs. If this guy spends all day trying to collect cans, and bottles just to make a living, so be it! At least he’s working for it, unlike those who just sit at home.
just saying
It’s actually a good day. when you have more bottles you get more money

I am sure the photographer helped out this person, a clear Mitzva D’oraysa.
