Picture of the Day: Hot Dogs, Car Batteries and Tefilin
Crown Heights community member Mendel Goldstein was on a trip with his family in Long Island yesterday; when it was time for lunch, he hooked up a miniature microwave oven to his car battery to cook some hot dogs. As he prepared the meal, the owner of the adjacent ‘air trampoline’ establishment came out to see what he was doing. In the ensuing conversation, it was revealed that the man was Jewish and hadn’t put on Tefilin since his Bar Mitzvah – which was 40 years ago.
The man readily assented to Rabbi Goldstein’s offer to put on Tefilin for the sake of the safety and security of our Israeli brethren.
