Picture of the Day: Snow, Snow, Go Away!

Photographer Shmuli Evers captured a mother and daughter enjoying the unseasonably balmy weather in Crown Heights yesterday. Can you figure out the full message they are writing in chalk?

  • TO WHOM?

To whom is this mother-daughter duo addressing this demand? To the snow? To the spring? To the dog-walkers along Eastern Parkway? Perhaps to the joggers?

G-d is in control, and he knows best what the world needs at any given time and place.

If a mother would write with her daughter “We Want Moshiach Now”, she would be labeled “extreme”, “fanatical”.

Ladies and gentleman, individualistic expression is a beautiful thing, however is this what the Rebbe wants of us? Is this what the Oibershter expects us to involve ourselves with… and drag our kids along too?

Lets take a moment to self assess, to see if our publicly displayed actions are motivated by the will to spread G-dliness in the world, or perhaps by our histrionic tendencies and the need for self validation.

Your seriously going to be critical of this? Some people just always find a way to complain. GET A LIFE!!

      Dear “TO WHOM?”
If you judge every gashmiustic endeavor as unholy (rather than elevating it) the world would indeed be a very dark place. For some people, including myself, these things are a bridge. Writing “we want Moshiach now” on the ground and having everyone step on it seemed wrong… so instead YES, we asked the Eibishte to keep the snow away if He deems fit… because to take such a request to 770 seemed inappropriate. We will take your suggestion of writing “We Want Moshiach Now” on an appropriate surface :-) (and no, we dont really care if someone thinks its fanatical bc its the Emes… everything else is opinion)

  • Omg!

Leave them alone, can’t a mother have fun with her daughter without the whole world commenting on it!
