Picture of the Day: If It Aint’ Broke, Don’t Fix It

A reader sent us this mobile photo of a ConEd crew replacing an aging electrical transformer on Troy Avenue near Crown Street. Workers said that some of the old units can be as old as 30 or 40 years old, shoring up the use of the age old adage ‘If It Aint’ Broke, Don’t Fix It.’

  • If it ain-t broke...

…but it’s a rusty old heap like that thing is, you replace it before it causes an explosion and hurts someone.

Look at it! It will break very soon. Imagine if it broke during Pesach then EVERYONE would be complaining about how it wasn’t replaced BEFORE it broke down.

    “If it aint ..” what?

That thing looks like it was water damaged, and they are replacing it as part of regular maintenance.

Preventative maintenance costs a lot less than having it blow up and risking life or property.

Saying “If it aint broke…” is pretty amateurish thinking.
