I was zoche to learn in the mesifta of Postville all 3 years of yeshivah and can clearly attest to the many acts of chesed that sholom mordechai carried out on a day to day basis. Weather it was monetary aid or a sympathetic ear to what seemed to us as major issues, he always wanted to help. I would like to mention one of the many:
It happened one motzoei shaboss early in the year at the melaveh malkah which sholom mordechai had with the bochurim, sholom mordechai mentioned a Sicha where the rebbe was responding to a vandalism carried out by a group of satmers on the friediker rebbes kever. The rebbe literally screamed that the way for us to prevent such evil doings of the ‘other side’ is through ‘hashkem vehareiv aleihem lbeis hamedrash vheim kolim meialeihem’ (rise to the beis midrash before them and depart after them, And they will ‘disapear’ by themselves). In light of this and due to minor problems that sholom mordechai was experiencing at that time, sholom mordechai started of a mivtza called “twenty/twenty” in which we would come to seder chasssidus in the morning 20 minutes early and leave at night 20 minutes later, and anyone who participated a whole week would receive 20$. Just for that! It sounds like a small amount, but for us 14-17 year olds, in hick town Postville cut off from civilization, it was a nice amount to receive on a weekly basis. This ‘seder hashkem’ or 20/20 as we called it was very, very dear to sholom mordechai and every motzoei shabboss he would ask how many bochurim came and would attribute his success to it. He made us feel as if we were doing him a favor. And this continued throughout the 3 years that I was there! For me personally it helped to pay for my flight for yud shvat and for others, for their needs. I don’t know if it continued afterwards or not, but to him it was important.
Yiden and especially tmimim: ‘HASHKEM VEHAREIV ALEIHEM’ let us all take upon ourselves a hachlota to add at least twenty minutes before and after our regular learning schedule, ‘VHEIM KOLIM MEIALEIHEM’ through this we will abolish all evil decrees and be zoche to the Geulah with the hisgalus of the rebbe Melech hamoshiach now!

On some high level in shamayim, the judge and the satan were corruptly trying to avoid rendering a sentence on Pesach Sheini with all of its meaning, holiness, and auspiciousness. In a similar manner to Haman’s desire to avoid certain dates, and the consequent choice of an even more auspicious date, may the judge and the satan be foiled by the Ultimate Judge, Who will render the ultimate judgement for good for Shalom Mordechai, his family, and Klal Yisroel in a good and right time.
