Picture Of The Day

Fresh out of the shrink wrapper, the first time anyone in Crown Heights has done such a thing, observing this car driving up Kingston Ave is quite amusing! (Well here, see it for yourself)

This was done by Raskin’s Fruit over twenty years ago. For those that may remember it was a red van full of Fruits and vegetables…very cool.

  • ha!

    to apple:

also raskins fish store has a white van with blue lettering on the outside.

so that means to webby too, this is not the first time someone did it, here are proof it was done before!

    To "apple" & "Ha!":

True it was done before, but you can’t even mention those designs in the same sentence as this one!

Thanks for the defense, though I don’t think I really need it, here’s why.

Notice I say it’s the first time a store in CH in to “Shrink Wrap” a car, NOT paint their logo on a truck!

Raskin’s Fish & Fruit have done this in the past, but its like any other delivery truck, you buy it and paint your logo on it (like Avis, Uhal etc.) but to take a car and completely cover it with an awesome design like that… it’s a first.

nice!! but really, how megushamdik can CH get?
just a little mussar, but really it’s very cool!

  • frum from birth

These guys are amazing, first they make shopping in cr great(on par with the fancy shops in manhattan)
Now they give Crown heights a boost by putting CROWN HEIGHTS, NY on their Delivery car.
    Keep up the good work.
    Can tziv hashem es habracha.

It is excellent. It is great that this store opened becuase it gives all of the rest of the stores a much needed dose of reality. Compete or lose. The consumer wins!!

    I love it.

Great picture Webby thanks a lot!!

and to all those who have not yet gone shopping at Mr. Greens, you don’t know what your missing… Always fresh.. great service.. pleasasnt atmosphere.. never packed.. its just great.

As a Crown Heightser, its one of the few places I enjoy shopping. Its very similar to ‘Raskins Gourmet’ and ‘Primo Hatters’ they just make me enjoy shopping in Crown Heights.

  • WE LOVE MR GREENS!!!!!

moishy, what’s mishugadik about that, i think its amazing!!! looks, really cool, enjoy the car!!!!

  • Miami Beach

    Is this Vehicle For delivery?
It’s good to see a store in C.H. putting money back into their business.
    Good Luck!

  • to -Buy Local-

    I like your line:

"Compete or lose. The consumer wins!!"

I think this should be awarded line of the week.

  • Dovid

There is a difference btw a beautiful driving poster, and a van with lettering on it.
    (For those who are comparing!!)

  • moishy

    to "WE LOVE MR. GREEN’S"–

you answered your own question. we shouldn’t be into the looks and the "cool"ness of things. i also did add in my previous post that i think it’s cool- i’m not on that level yet, but i just wanted to make people aware that as chassidim there is another ideal and we should be striving towards it, that’s all. sorry if i offended anyone, it wasn’t at all meant that way.

    To Webby,

Yes this van is very unique and is the first in Crown Heights to use wrapping. However Raskin’s Fruit in the early 80’s designed a van that did not just have a logo painted on it. The entire van was painted with all different Fruits and vegetables which was a first then. And in the mid 90’s Raskin’s fish had a silver van that was painted with a fish design on the actual van.

    You’re site is still #1.

    Apple:
You are obviously a friend or family member of the raskin family.
If you only shopped @ Mr greens you wouldn’t mention the 2 stores in the same sentence.
The wraped car and there PAINTED van are worlds a part.
This form of Advertising is great, and the fact that they put Crown Heights on it is a blessing for all businesses in the neigborhood.
Also, if you shopped in their store you would see that they are the first to have stuff that they take off their shelves at all times for people who are needy.
Every store in Crown heights should be doing this..

    To Apple,

Did Mr. Raskin put the logo on his personal car, or was it put on his store vehicle? This car is personnally owned and driven by the owner of Mr. Greens. It is strictly for advertising. You have to be a moron not to put your logo on your bussiness vehicle! The originality is the personal vehicle.

Chaim K & all other wonderful Readers and Commentators of this great Site:

I happen to know all of the families of the discussed business establishments very well. I was commenting on what was written in the original article, that this was not the first time, I have seen something like this done by a business in CH. Wether it is for business or pleasure or for whatever reason the vehicle is used for.

I wish all the business owners and shopkeepers of the Rebbe’s Shchuna much Hatzlocho, and may Hashem grant all members of CH and all of Klal Yisroel all that they need and more!

We should all learn from all the chesed that these businesses do. Help them continue this by patronizing them. And may we it bring Moshiach now!

    A guten chodesh!

    Sweet & crispully yours,

    Apple
