In 1962, the Zelbshutz (self help) patrolled Crown Heights from an office on Albanyh Avenue and Eastern Parkway, across from Key Food.
I was 7 years old. We didn’t have jackets, but I was monitoring the CB radio with (and without) my father, as the Patrol protected Jews in Crown Heights.
I think that the kid in the picture may be younger than 7, but I was there, and I have fond memories of it.
The exposure to two way radio led me to a lifelong involvement with radio communications (amateur call KM6CG) and technology of all kinds.
