Yud Shvat In Oholei Torah
From Kindergarten to Shiur Hey Zal, the students of Oholei Torah marked the day of Yud Shvat with a variety of different hachanos, farbrengens and activities.
The two Kindergartens were treated to experience a farbrengen aboard a Mitzvah Tank during which they gave tzedakah, said the 12 Pesukim, and sang Basi Legani.
The elementary school talmidim from grades 3 and 4 participated in a two-week Hachana program during which they received special cards when they would daven with kavana, actively participate in class, and for receiving good grades on their tests and assignments.
As a part of the Yud Shvat program, the cards were exchanged for raffle tickets with which the boys could win exciting prizes such as:
They were also taken on an exhilarating snow tubing trip.
Grades 5-7 prepared for Yud Shvat with their own Hachana which culminated on Sunday with an extra special father/son program followed by a trip to the Ohel on Monday. Their festivities extended until Wednesday when they gathered for a meaningful and inspirational farbrengen with their teachers and guest speakers.
In the weeks leading up to Yud Shvat, the Beis Medrash talmidim engaged in deep discussions surrounding the meaning of Hiskashrus for today’s bochurim. The conversations and discoveries of both the bochurim and Hanhala were collected and printed in a special Kovetz titled “Oir Oholei Torah”
An additional mivtza took place during which bochurim would remain in Yeshiva after Seder to watch videos of Farbrengens of the Rebbe.
The bochurim in Shiur Hey (zal) prepared for Yud Shvat by immersing themselves in the Rebbe’s Yud Shvat farbrengens throughout the years. The farbrengens were divided up amongst the bochurim and they all shared and discussed what they had learned from the footage. They also spent time delving into a series of in-depth shiurim in the Alte Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch and Kuntres Achron on the topic of כל ישראל ערבים זה לזה
The bochurim also split up into groups and made their way to other Yeshivas in different neighborhoods to farbreng with the bochurim there about Yud Shvat.
Yud Shvat is a special day for all Chassidim.
This year, for the Talmidim of Oholei Torah, much effort was invested to ensure that it was a meaningful day, a memorable day and a day that served to strengthen the Hiskashrus of the talmidim with our Rebbe.
