CGI-Florida Memorizes Over 42,000 Lines of Torah

A total of 42,608 lines of Torah – Mishnayos, Tanya, Siddur and Yediyos Kloliyos – were learned as part Camp Gan Israel of Florida’s annual Mishnayos Be’Al Peh program – surpassing achievements in 5 out of 6 categories.

This number includes: 6 full Mesechtos, 121 Perakim Mishnayos, 1,309 Mishnas, 33 Perakim Tanya & 3,839 lines of Tanya.

Additionally, campers were tested on Yediyos Klolios (general Torah knowledge) from its’ popular “MBP Handbook”, courtesy of Rabbi Sholom Heidingsfeld of Cheder Menachem – Los Angeles, CA. This allowed all campers, regardless of previous knowledge, background or memorization skills, to successfully participate in the program and train their skills at memorization.

Parents were continually updated of their children’s progress throughout the summer via the camp’s MBP website and personalized daily/weekly emails; the database & website are courtesy of Rabbi Dovid Zirkind of baalpeh.com.

Campers were evaluated at the beginning of the program and assigned a level they could succeed.

The result was that every camper in camp, without exception, was successful tested on a respectable amount of Torah.

As always, a beautiful Seforim catalog was produced at the onset of the summer. Campers browsed through its 16 pages of seforim and their prices, motivating them to set a goal of the amount of MBP they planned to learn throughout the summer (many even surpassed their personal goals!) On the final Sunday of camp, campers placed their orders for the seforim of their choice.

On the final Friday of camp, campers and staff gather for its 9th Annual Mishnayos Be’Al Peh Award Ceremony. A video of the Rebbe was played, showing the Rebbe’s appreciation for such gifts from his Chassidim. This was followed by the announcement of the summer’s MBP accomplishments.

The top 3 campers with the highest accomplishments were honored: Eli Rosenfeld of Shiur Zayin, Yosef Y. Gansburg of Shiur Beis and Mendel Stock of Shiur Zayin.

Each camper was then called up to receive his seforim and certificate of achievement. Camp staff and administration joined in to pay tribute to the children’s efforts.

A simultaneous multimedia presentation was played as each camper was called up, displaying the campers’ picture, points, major learning achievements and the seforim they were receiving.

The MBP Ceremony and all of the seforim purchased for this year’s program was sponsored by several generous donors, including Anshei Lubavitch of Miami Florida, under the guidance of Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Teitelbaum and Rabbi Dovid Schapiro.

The campers, staff and administration of Camp Gan Israel Florida wish all campers continued success in their limudim. It is their hope that the campers’ accomplishments and achievements continue into the school year and give much nachas to the Rebbe and, as explained in the Rebbe’s Sichos, will bring the revelation of Moshiach now.
