  • v. nice

    but I am so saddened
we have been trained to save our meyser so we can use it for these chinese auctions
the donors who donate the prizes similarly save these gifts and count these as their meyser.
    we are like little babies..
we trained the olam – give so you can earn a prize.

what happened to – we give tzedaka cause it’s our duty .. it’s Hashem’s money that He entrusted in us and allows us to get a Mitzvah while returning the Money He gave us?

thankyou, its a very valid point. However, when we give and hope to win, then when we don’t win sometimes, we can work on ourselves to accept that as our opportunity to have the mitzva for the sake of the mitzva.
    you worded it well.

yes, we save our maiser for it, but most of the tickets DON’T win. Ans we still do it, because we WANT to support the yeshiva or other valid local tzedakah.
So we buy tickets, and guess what? When we DO win, hey, then the money we spent isn’t maiser anymore, and we have to give more maiser BECAUSE we won.
    Isn’t that wonderful?
Hey, this Sunday, there’s the Camp Fund auction. Buy $500 of tickets, and sponsor your neighbor’s kid for a week in camp! Away from the shmutz of the city, were being hefker for the summer has led to lots of trouble for too many kids R”L. Can you think of a better way to pay out your Maiser money?

  • I was there...

    … but I didn’t see you.
I hope you supported the yeshiva on-line or by mail, but still, there was a little missing because you were not there.
