Photos: Levaya of Rabbi Shlomo Lakein, OBM

Hundreds of Crown Heights residents attended the Levaya of Rabbi Benda Shlomo Lakein, OBM, as it passed by 770. Prior to making its way past the Lubavitch World Headquarters, the Levaya passed Darchai Menachem, the school which Rabbi Lakein founded. All of the students waited outside to bid their school’s patriarch farewell.

He was a special person. He had a lot of challenges and he overcame his hardships and raised a beautiful family after his wife passed with little “pitzelach” at home. Our community was better off with him in it.
The yeshivah he built was a brilliant idea long overdue.
His Children should find comfort in the great things he accomplished in his life. Gone too soon..

Rabbi Lakein was a visionary who saw a need for an alternative Yeshiva for Lubavitcher boys and persisted from the beginning with little funding to build his Yeshiva from the ground up. B”H after appointing his talented and dedicated son-in-law to be the principal Yeshivas Darchai Menachem grew and flourished. May the unique zchus of all the Talmidim he benefited accompany him and help bring Moshiach Now !
